SHABBAT EXPERIENCE

Welcome to Shabbat In Tzfat!

Greetings, and congratulations on your decision to spend a holy Shabbat in Tzfat!

Shabbat holds a special place everywhere in the world, but it is particularly transformative in the beautiful city of Tzfat. Here, the Lecha Dodi and the Kabbalat Shabbat service have their origins, making Shabbat the centerpiece of this sacred city.

For the past ten years, we have had the privilege of hosting thousands of guests in our home in Tzfat. During this time, we have witnessed lives being transformed by the blissful atmosphere and ambiance of Shabbat in our home.

We would be delighted if you could join our family and guests from around the world for an uplifting spiritual experience. Our Shabbat gatherings are filled with inspiring words of Torah, exciting interactions, and a gourmet culinary experience complemented by thoughtfully selected wine pairings.

Why Shabbat here is different

Tzfat is where Kabbalat Shabbat began. In the sixteenth century, the Arizal and his circle would walk out into the fields above this city on Friday afternoon to greet Shabbat as a bride. Rabbi Shlomo Alkabetz wrote Lecha Dodi here, and every Jewish community in the world has been singing his words ever since.

When the sun drops behind Mount Meron on Friday afternoon, the whole city changes frequency. The shops close, the streets empty, and the mountain air softens.

Kabbalah teaches that Shabbat is not a day off. It is a different quality of time, when the soul receives an added dimension of itself, the neshama yeteira. Most people have never felt that consciously.

It is truly humbling to consistently hear from many of our guests who feel it for the first time at our Shabbat table, and that it was their favorite Shabbat experience ever.

“Come, my beloved, to greet the bride.”

Lecha Dodi, written in Tzfat, sung every Friday night in every corner of the world

Since we settled in Tzfat we have hosted thousands of guests in our home. Backpackers and grandparents. Families on their first trip to Israel. Students of Live Kabbalah who had only ever met us through a screen. People who came in exhausted and left lighter.

Some guests stay for one Shabbat. Some come back every year. A few met their husband or wife across this table.

What the evening includes

A substantial multi-course meal, Israeli wine, singing, teachings from Kabbalah and Chassidus, explanations of Kiddush and the Shabbat rituals, and extended conversation around the table.

Length: approximately 3 to 4.5 hours.
