The 5 Prerequisites For Receiving The Torah

netzach parsha Feb 09, 2023

After the long physical and spiritual journey from Egypt, the Israelites are ready to receive the Torah. The Torah was at the soul of the exodus of Egypt.

This week's Torah portion is named Yitro after Jethro, Moshe's father-in-law. The Zohar says that Jethro was the master of all known idolatry. When he decided to come forth and convert, he stirred the "higher and lower worlds." Although the nation of Israel seemed ready, Jethro's realization was the clincher for the Torah to be given.

In this class, we will learn about the five prerequisites for the Torah to be given to the nation of Israel as individuals and as a collective entity.
