The Letter Tet — The Hidden Light & the Gate of Becoming
Jun 22, 2026B"H
Based on our Light Warrior Class - The Mystery of the Hebrew Letters by Rabbi Amichai Cohen:
This week we arrived at the ninth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, the letter Tet (ט) — one of the most beautiful and quietly mysterious letters in the alef-bet. Tet is the gate of gestation, of trust, and of becoming. Its very shape curves inward like a vessel, like a womb, holding something precious within until the time is right for it to be revealed.
The Letter of Goodness — Tov
Tet is the letter of tov, of goodness. It carries the hidden light, the ohr haganuz — the original light of creation that G-d set aside and concealed for the righteous and for the world that is still becoming. This is why Moshe, at his birth, is described as "ki tov" — that he was good — and is associated with the letter Tet and the name Tovia: a soul born already carrying that hidden light within.
Trusting the Slow Work of Becoming
The deeper teaching of Tet is the teaching of trust: that goodness is often hidden before it is revealed, that what is gestating in the dark is not absent but ripening, and that our work is to trust the slow, sacred work of becoming — in ourselves, in others, and in the world.
